Our Members Operate SMARTer

You may have heard of SMART's work to promote textile recycling, but did you know we are an international trade association? Your company can join our diverse membership &mndash; our companies are located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South and Central America, Europe, Asia, and Pacific Rim countries who are involved in every phase of our industry.

Why join? We’re grounded by three foundational pillars to benefit the textile recycling industry:

NETWORKING
Success in this industry is largely dependent on the size and number of people in your network with whom you can trade. When you join SMART, you instantly increase the size of your network, allowing you to build new relationships with people who can help grow your business. The SMART Board of Directors and SMART staff are committed to supporting our members and our industry.

Our members also have access to SMARTTrader forum, a members-only internet forum used to exchange information regarding the sale or purchase of industry-related goods.

INFORMATION
SMART is committed to informing our members of the latest news and trends in our industry. We publish an exclusive monthly e-newsletter, and are active on Facebook and Twitter. Our website features industry news, a member locator, education resources, resources for the general public, PR materials and videos, and is a valuable resource you can use to explain textile recycling to your customers.

Members can also attend our annual convention and regional meeting, which provide expanded networking opportunities, education on various sectors of the textile reuse and recycling industry, advocacy updates and additional featured keynote speakers to benefit your business.

ADVOCACY
SMART is the leading industry voice promoting high standards and best practices for reducing solid waste by recycling textiles and related secondary materials. We speak on your behalf in the media, as well as through our Government Affairs Consultant, Jessica Franken. When national or global issues arise that impact our industry, SMART responds with lobbying and contact with key policy makers to shape public policy.

Not certain where to turn if you’re contacted by a reporter? Allow SMART to speak for you — you can rely on us to be prepared with the latest industry statistics.
